May Circle

*Our morning circle begins sitting*
Song: (2x) Morning has come, night is away, we sit in our ring, and welcome the day
Simon says: This activity is about body geography.
● From easy: Simon says touch your head
● To hard: Simon says pinky on your ear and ring-a-ding on your toe

*Sung*

Toe, knee, chest, nut,
Toe, knee, chest, nut,
Toe, knee, nose,
Toe, knee, nose,
Toe, knee, nose, eye, love, you,
Toe, knee, nose, eye, love, you,
Toe, knee, nose,
Toe, knee, nose.

*Choose a clapping game from the first circle choices*
*Spoken*

The sun comes and he climbs up high,
His crown of rays beams in the sky,
Shines down upon both earth and men,
So that the day may come again.
Hugs and holds the whole earth warm,
Warm in his sun-father arms,
And you and me...so warm...so warm.

Baby seedlings wrapped up tight,
In their cosy nest of night.
Gently, gently will they wake,
With a little Springtime shake.

Lady Spring, Lady Spring, widely loving everything.
The gnomes will wake each little root,
And green will grow each little shoot,
And as their lovely leaves unfold,
They put on flower caps of gold.

Lady Spring, Lady Spring, widely loving everything.

O, spring it is a shining shower,
Of bud and shoot and leaf and flower,
Unfolding daily one by one,
Their rainbow treasures to the sun.

And from my golden warmth of heart, I, too, have treasures that I share…

*At the transition from sitting to standing we say the following*

Our hearts open wide, love shines deep inside,
Stars, moon and sun, shine on everyone.
On earth now we stand, giving all our hand.
Good morning dear friends.

*Now we are standing and we sing*

Two eyes to see,
Two ears to hear,
Two feet to walk and run,
Now take my hand,
Give yours to me,
Good morning everyone,
Good morning everyone.

*Spoken*

The earth is firm beneath my feet,
The sun shines bright above,
And here I stand so straight and strong,
All things to know and love.
For we are:

Guarded from harm,
Cared for by angels,
Here we stand,
Loving and strong,
Truthful and good.

*Sung*
In the springtime garden,
Rosy morning glow,
Sunshine calling, falling, calling,
Seedlings wake and grow.

 *Spoken*
Golden sun in heaven blue,
Come and warm us through and through,
Come and give us of your gold,
That the blossom may unfold.

*Sung*

Weaving starlight clear and bright,
Into colors pure and light,
Fragrant flowers come to birth,
And bring the starlight down to earth.

*Spoken*

And the sun and the stars and the moon and the earth,
Make Lady Springs garden full of new birth,
The gnomes and the fairies they help too,
Weave Lady Spring’s mantle of every hue.

Busy gnomes bring to birth,
Little seeds in the earth,
Water sprites feed the shoots,
Striving upwards from the roots.
Airy sylphs, power bestow,
Make the plant, thrive and grow.
Sun sprites bring, warming gold,
Many hued, buds unfold.
Flowers all, secrets keep,
In their hearts, new seeds sleep.
Water, fire, earth and air,
In this work have a share,
That the earth, seeds may bear.

*Sung*

Spring is here, here is spring, fairies dancing in a ring.
Flowers are growing up so high, birds are flying in the sky.
Trees are swaying in the breeze, sunshine laughing o’er the leaves.
Mother Earth is bathed in light, thanks the golden sun so bright.
Spring is here, here is Spring, fairies dancing in a ring.

*Spoken*
But who is this inching so slowly along,
While the birdies are singing their sweet springtime song?

Fuzzy, wuzzy, creepy, crawly,
Caterpillar funny,
You will be a butterfly,
When the days are sunny.
Winging, flinging, dancing, springing,
Butterfly so yellow,
You were once a caterpillar,
Wiggly, wiggly fellow.

*Sung*

Caterpillar wind about,
Round and round and in and out,
When you are fed, go spin your bed,
As a caterpillar die, waken as a butterfly.

Waken sleeping butterfly,
Burst your narrow prison,
Spread your golden wings and fly,
For the sun has risen.
Spread your wings and tell the story,
How you rose in all your glory.
Waken sleeping butterfly,
Burst your narrow prison.

*Spoken*

See the little butterfly,
How (s)he gaily flutters by,
Settles on a buttercup,
Then once more goes flying up.
Welcome, little butterfly,
We will love you as you fly,
On your journey safely come,
With a message from the sun.

She tells us now that it is May,
Let us dance in a ring with our flowers gay.

*Sung*

Come my friends and dance with me,
Both my hands I give to thee,
One step here, one step there,
Round about as light as air.

With my hands I clap, clap, clap.
With my feet I tap, tap, tap.
One step here, one step there,
Round about as light as air.

With my head I nic, nic, nic,
With my fingers I tick, tick, tick
One step here, one step there,
Round about as light as air.

Come my friends and dance with me,
Both my hands I give to thee,
One step here, one step there,
Round about as light as air.

*Sung while dancing around a Maypole, a favorite tree or with each other *

In May we go a walking to hear the birdies sing,
The pansies and the lilies all dancing in a ring
Birds and butterflies are soaring to the sun,
Oh isn’t this a lovely time of year for everyone?

Here’s a branch of snowy May, a branch the fairies gave me,
Would you like to dance today with a branch the fairies gave me,
Dance away, dance away, holding high the branch of May.

We’re dancing we’re dancing around a Maypole high,
In colors of the rainbow our ribbons do fly,
Dear children take a ribbon please, today May flower’s all are we.
Around, around, around, a garland we do weave.
High-diddle-dee, high-diddle-dee, come join me, come join me.
High-diddle-dee, high-diddle-dee, come join me, please.
Fa la la la la la la la la, la la la. la la la,
Fa la la la la la la la la, fa la la la.

*Spoken*

Good morning dear earth,
Good morning dear sun,
Good morning dear stones,
And the flowers every one.
Good morning dear creatures,
And the birds in the trees,
Good morning to you,
And good morning to me.
