If you need help with the tune for any of the Circle songs, listen to Ms. Christl below.

morning glory verses

Beginning of Circle
let’s make a circle

like the circle round the sun.
let’s make a circle
that includes everyone.

let’s make a circle
so the sun can shine through.
let’s make a circle
that includes each one of you.

good morning, dear earth,
good morning, dear sun,
good morning, dear stones,
and the flowers every one.

good morning, dear creatures,
and the birds in the trees.
good morning to you,
and good morning to me.

down is the earth,
up is the sky,
here are my friends,
and here am I.

Circle Songs/Games
Ring Around the Rosie

ring around the rosie

pockets full of posies,
ashes, ashes,
we all fall down (drop to rug)

the cows are in the meadow
eating buttercups, (make eating motions)
ashes, ashes
we all jump up (jump up) [do twice; sit down after 2nd time]

Cobbler, cobbler
cobbler, cobbler

mend my shoe.
have it ready by half past two.
is it white, or is it brown?
is it up, or is it down?
(Each child gets a turn at guessing which hand of the teacher’s is holding the acorn.)

Open Them, Shut Them
open them, shut them (
hands wide open, then fists)

open them, shut them. (-ditto-)
give them a quiet clap. Soft clap
open them, shut them, (hands wide open, then fists)
open them, shut them, (-ditto-)
fold them in your lap. (fold in lap)
