our daily rhythmsWe design our daily rhythm around a healthy ‘breathing’ quality for young children. ‘Out-breaths’ are times when we are active, playful and expansive. During ‘in-breaths’ we are more still, focused and inward. As you’ve heard us explain before, children developmentally live more in an out-breath, while adults live in an in-breath. This means that we are planning a day for the children that considers their more active nature, while we might not be as comfortable with the demands of that much physical activity. It’s OK though, as adults we’re the planners, and if we’ve planned well, the children can be active while we are a solid and secure base camp. Remember to breathe when things seem as though they are getting out of hand; taking that moment to reset, find your ground and freshen your perspective makes all the difference. We’ve included a Rhythm Wheel in your supplies to support your creative process (see suggestions for its use below).
